Why Zhongning Goji Berries Are So Special

Goji berries being harvested on our own farm in Zhongning, Ningxia

Zhongning County in Ningxia is one of China’s most respected goji-growing regions, with more than 600 years of cultivation history.

Zhongning has abundant sunlight, a dry climate and significant temperature differences between day and night. Its growing areas are also supported by water from the Yellow River and Qingshui River.

Together with generations of farming experience, these conditions help produce goji berries with full flesh and a naturally sweet, slightly tart flavor.

Zhongning goji berries are protected by China’s geographical indication system, recognizing their close connection to this specific place of origin.

Ningxia goji (Lycium barbarum L.) is also the only botanical source recognized for Gouqizi—the medicinal goji fruit listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia—reflecting its unique place in Chinese tradition.

Grown on Our Own Farms

We established our own standardized goji-growing base in Zhongning in 2006.

Today, our self-owned farms cover approximately 13,000 mu, or 3,212 acres. Growing our own berries allows us to stay closely involved in cultivation, harvesting and fruit selection.

From Our Farms to Every Sachet

We use freshly harvested goji berries to create a smooth and convenient purée. Each 15 ml sachet is made with approximately 34 goji berries, with no added sugar or preservatives.

For The Goji Reserve, Zhongning is more than a place of origin. It is where our farms, experience and commitment to goji began.
